Structure of the Exam

a) Short Answer Questions
In this section you will be expected to use your own knowledge as well as analyse information provided to you on the exam paper itself. You should spend approximately 50 minutes on this section.
b) Extended Response Writing
In this section you will be required to select a statement and write a response to it. You should spend approximately 30 minutes on this section.
Reading Time: 10 minutes
Writing Time: 90 minutes

  • Revise the map of the Asia Pacific region- know where the countries, oceans, seas, highest point are located
  • Practise your PQE skills- be able to read maps and graphs and various forms of data.
  • Natural processes of the earth- know the 3 different plate boundaries and be able to label the features of each.
  • Structure of the earth- Inner Core, outer core, mantle, crust, asthenosphere, lithosphere
  • Different kinds of landscapes result from tectonic activity
